Education & Opportunity

Education and opportunity go hand in hand, and both are essential to building strong families and communities. I’m running for the Utah House to expand access to quality education and create real pathways to good-paying jobs, because when people have the chance to learn, grow, and build skills, they have a fair shot at success. That means investing in strong public schools, supporting working families facing rising costs, and making sure our economy works for everyday Utahns. I’ll focus on practical, real-world solutions that strengthen economic stability, expand opportunity, and ensure every voice is part of the decisions shaping our future.

Education:
Every Path Should Be Within Reach

Education changed my life—and it should be a real, achievable pathway for every person in our community. Whether that’s learning early, going to college, or starting over later in life, opportunity should always be within reach. A student’s future shouldn’t be limited by cost, access, or lack of guidance.

Right now, too many people feel like the system only works at one stage of life. I believe it should work for all of them. Education isn’t one path—it’s many. Whether it’s college, a certification, or going back to school later in life, every person deserves a real chance to build a future.

What I’ll Work On

Invest where it matters most

  • Increase per-student funding in Utah classrooms

  • Ensure resources reach teachers and students—not just administration

  • Support and retain great teachers with competitive pay

  • Reduce classroom overload and burnout

  • I will work to protect funding for public schools and oppose efforts that divert resources away from the classrooms serving the vast majority of Utah students.

Make education after high school achievable

  • Protect affordable in-state tuition

  • Expand need-based scholarships and financial aid

  • Improve awareness so families actually know what support exists

Create clear pathways from school to career

  • Expand career and technical education alongside college prep

  • Strengthen counseling so students understand all their options early

  • Make it easier to transfer credits between institutions.

Opportunity:
Hard Work Should Pay Off

In our community, people want to work, build, and provide—but too many are hitting unnecessary barriers. Opportunity shouldn’t depend on who you know—it should come from your willingness to work for it.

Opportunity also means that hard work actually leads somewhere—whether that’s starting a business, learning a trade, or providing for your family.

Education doesn’t stop at age 22. People’s lives evolve—our education system should evolve with them.
